A phone/tablet stand with a difference! We have developed a phone stand with a difference... a Tensegrity Phone Stand! At first glance the top section appears to float in mid-air. Looking closer you can see the thin wires, but it is mystifying - how can it hold itself up? Tensegrity is short for "tensional integrity". With a normal table the legs and top bear weight under compression. A tensegrity table (and phone holder) works differently, with the parts in the structure being held in compression and tension. Rather than thick legs, strong thin wires are used to hold harms and plates in structural and tensional integrity, completely independent of gravity. This results in a structure that is stable and strong while also being lightweight and flexible. The thin wires make it visually striking, with the top section almost appearing to float in mid-air. Key features Appears to float in mid air Tensegrity tables (and phone holders) are visually and mechanically quite different. This tensegrity phone holder almost appears to float in mid air, with almost incomprehensibly thin dangling wires to the ground. At first glance it appears almost impossible. It's only in under inspection do you realise the physics involved...even then some people don't find how it works intuitive. Strong All our tensegrity phone holders now have 9kg (max) breaking strength centre cable. All centre cables are quality tested on custom build pneumatic jig to ensure they are up to the highest standard. Note: don't put this amount of weight on the table. Cables are under tension before any weight is place on the table. Precision CNC in England This tensegrity phone holder is properly engineered. What do we mean by that? There's no glue. No cheap nasty components. Everything has been designed and prototyped by us, for production in our factory in Maidenhead, England. We take take pride in what we do. We control the quality and we make things to last. Leveling and tension adjustment Hidden underneath the base of the is a fully adjustable mechanism to allow each of the outer cables length and tension to be adjusted. This ensures the table is perfectly level and also allows increasing the tension so the table is rigid. Our CNC machine Tensegrity table is supplied as a kit Our kits are supplied in a custom foam insert box which we have designed and made ourselves. This ensures that all the parts are safe and secure while in transit. Small parts are bagged and complete comprehensive are provided online. All tools needed are include with the kit. The kit also has a simple tension tool supplied to get the perfect tension on the cables. Uses Charging Stand The primary role is a phone stand. Its ideal on a desk allowing you to see notifications at a glance. Many people use it next to their desktop computer screen. You can charge it while its on the stand (charger cable). Video calls / Meetings The stand is tilted at particular angle making it extremely useful for video calls. It allows a natural hands free operation while making those all-important calls. You can use it landscape or portrait. Reading Phones, small tablets and kindles can be held for you while you are reading. Handy if you are reading instructions and then carrying out the instructions. Cooking receipes, construction kits or repairs all can be carried out while glancing over at the instructions. Other uses Other uses include using a stylish photo frame holder or small notebook/diary holder. We even used to display collectables such as a Gameboy on it. Made in our workshop in England
