We bought this for my Mom, who lives in assisted living for memory care. If she had the ability to dial out, she'd make excessive calls all day long and not remember, plus she'd dial numbers from 30 years ago that don't belong to the person she thought. So no dial pad for her, and this phone has helped immensely at a reasonable price. So many vendors take advantage of elderly needs by hiking up costs. We tried a more traditional style desk phone and she peeled the cover off to look for the dial pad, and she unscrewed the mouth piece cover and lost it, ultimately ruining the phone. She can't do that with this model.
