My phones are full of cat photos - 150gb and growing. This is a problem. I want to use my DSLR, but I like nice dramatic shots at night and my $300 Manfrotto ballhead tripod is WAY too bulky to keep out all the time. Handshots just don't cut it with my big body cam as it's quite old and doesn't have the best low light performance. So... I needed a new tripod.And now, with this, my giant tripod will be staying under the bed and nighttime around-the-house cat photography is back on the menu. This thing is amazing! I really was not expecting it to hold up to a full DSLR, but it does - lens (50mm f/1.8) + camera (Canon 60D) together, the ball joint at the top of the tripod holds it nicely still (at full tension, anyway, so hopefully it holds up). Angle adjustments of the ball head are semi-quick with the tension knob. There's a bit of drop every time thanks to some general instability of the thing, but adapt improvise overcome - I can still settle on a framed cat without too much trouble.Height adjustments are also very easy, no latches or tension there just pull or push. Sometimes I have accidentally pushed it lower without intending to, but be careful and you'll be fine there.The legs are small, but tipped with silicone for antislip. They are not easily adjustable and require a full, long unscrew before their angle can be changed, but that's fine - not something I do often anyway. As they aren't too large stability is a bit of an issue but keep 'em wide and you'll be fine as long as no one knocks the thing. Again - this is not a giant 20lb aluminum 6' professional tripod with a hanging leveling weight, so set your expectations accordingly.I'll be honest: until I read the product details page here I had NO idea how the camera mount on the top worked. I'm not planning to use it, but it's genius in its construction. That thought holds true for the whole thing - amazing value for what you get. I'm not worried about the plastic parts as I'm not planning to take this out for field work or winter landscape photography in the snow or anything.It's insane this is only $25 (okay, $27). Years and years back I bought a "starter" photography kit (what a noob I was) with a super cheapo tripod - this thing puts it to shame at least 4 times over. Recommending this as a backup tripod for around-the-house use to all my photog friends. Can't go wrong!
