I've been through two of these before realizing that they work for about a year before they are no longer viable. I've cleaned the contacts and changed cords. The little magnetic charger cable that comes with the seems to continue to work when the charger box does not.Can product evolution improve the breed? That was my question when the new Plantronics Voyager Legend Bluetooth headset appeared here on Amazon. But that same question can be asked about the accessories. This It charged my Plantronics very well it's got a good strong magnet in it you got to play around to get figured out how it fits in the case it's a little tricky till you figure it out. But once you get it in there the lid closes nicely and holds enough of a charge for me to charge earpiece two times. Inside case is very nicely padded. The charging case is build fairly well, I wouldn't say rugged but it's thin and will fit in your pocket nicely. The lids a little bit thin it will be nice closed up for traveling . I wouldn't worry to much about it but I think it's going to have to be something to be careful of, with the lid opening it it's very thin but I just got it so that remains to be seen. I'll post later on how all that all works out. But it's much nicer than having the the small wire with the magnet on it. One got must watch buying the small magnetic chargers, b I've bought them and the magnet that holds the charger on to the earpiece is just so weak that Plantronics won't even charge. I had to send it back and get another one. It came in an works fine. You don't have to worry about that with this travel charger you can set it on top of you dresser or wherever you want and it'll do a fine job due to the powerful magnet on the charger case.Okay, just to level set things. Prior to owning this product I criticized Plantronics for using a proprietary charger. I have own the previous model (Voyager Pro+) that has a standard microUSB port for charging. I have had it for a couple years. Worked great until a few weeks ago when the USB port failed. When I pushed the microUSB plug into it, to my dismay the port on the unit gave way and recessed into the unit making it unuseable. So now we know why Plantronics decided to do away with a standard microUSB port. That said, the small desktop charger is really nice. The headset magnetically snaps into place. Effortless. I also purchased the protective charging case. I strongly recommend it. It DOES use a standard microUSB cable, protects the unit when traveling and has a built-in battery providing 2 additional charges without having to plug it in. Its designed really well.I like the Legend better than the Pro+. The sound quality on the Pro+ is really good and so is this one. The big difference between the 2 products are the controls - power switch, audio feedback on time remaining and whether or not it is connected to your phone, volume controls are much better, the mic is thinner. In addition, they moved the call answer/end button. Instead of it being a big button on the face side of the ear piece, its smaller on the end of it - smaller but less likely to accidentally hang up on someone by touching it. I also like the feature where it knows when you are answering a call simply by turning the mic in talk position - it took a little getting used to because I was so used to touching the call answer button on the previous model. I also like that you can still answer the call via your phone if the Legend is in your pocket and you can't grab it quick enough. So why 4 stars instead of 5. The only reason is that after all these years why couldn't they have made it a bit slimmer behind the ear. Not that its bad but wearing reading glasses, it kind of gets in the way. Otherwise, its a great unit.I bought this as I had a Plantronics Voyager Legend for my birthday. I spend hours on the phone for work, and this will pair with my mobile and my landline phone to enable me to carry out my work comfortably all day.Part of my job involves driving and staying over in places- and I found I was shoving my earpiece into my handbag where it was being battered and dropped regularly. (The magnetic attachment to the charger means it sticks to my keys).I thought the price was a little high at first but now I have had it for a few weeks I think it is worth the £30. The case held enough charge for me to go away for three days and two nights without a proper charge. I drove an average of four hours each day, and a couple of hours each evening in the hotel room using my headset to talk. I used this case to charge the headset each night and it was ready to go in the morning. The charger port is a micro USB so my phone charger actually works with it. Unlike the headset charger which is a specific type. This means I don't have to take loads of different cables with me when I'm away- I just leave the headset charger in my office. The case is slightly larger than a pack of cards, and is shiny smooth plastic on the cover and matt plastic on the bottom. It will scratch easily- but I bought it to protect me headset, not look nice! The cover is flimsy and would probably crack if a lot of pressure was put on it, but the moulded inside is contoured with a rubbery material to hold the earpiece securely. The case has a clever set of LEDs which flash different colour and different amounts to count down the charging level of the headset and the case. It tells you when the headset is fully charged and when the case needs recharging. The lights flash automatically when you put the headset in or take it out, or you can push the button on the case to show the levels.I would buy this case again in a heart beat. It is a shame the headsets are not sold with them!I have had it knocked on the floor several times by my cats and myself, it has skated across the hard floor without a scratch, too! The functionality is faultless. Headphone fits neatly and compactly and precisely into the case, and the charging lasts for ages. Smooth, no catching edges, nice finger ledge to lift lid, and it stays open, usefully, no flapping or loose lid! Clips nicely shut, secure and snug. The magnetic charging patch is brilliant - makes it so easy to put headphone into the case - it sort of directs the whole thing! The little led lights are reassuring, not intrusive, and I think that this is the best purchase I have made for a long time. You can carry the headset around with you, in this case, for days, in a pocket or bag, knowing that it will be protected, kept clean and fully charged, ready for use. Excellent item. Highly recommend. The first thing that struck me about the case is how small it is. Quite a bit smaller (although fatter) than a Samsung Galaxy S3. Inside is moulded to accurately fit the Plantronics Voyager Legend bluetooth headset (see my review on that). Normally I leave my headset in the car, but this headset is so much better than the previous ones I've used, that I want it with me for whenever I can avoid putting the phone up to my head, or when I need both hands free for typing. So it looks like an expensive protective case. Well it comes with a battery to recharge the headset. That's a big bonus. When you put the headset into the case, it charges again. It also informs the phone that it's not on your head (obviously), so calls come through to the phone. Of course the beauty of this headset is that if you take it out of the case and put it on your head, then it does a smooth handover and gets the call moved from phone to headset without me pressing any buttons. Just brilliant.Small, clever, saves breaking a £60 headset - yes I think this is worth it.Oh, one more thing. The case takes a micro-USB cable and charges the headset and case at the same time. So you only need one lead (micro USB) to charge everything.I bought the Voyager Legend to replace a rather pathetically useless Plantronics Edge. However, the reason I went for the Edge over the Voyager Legend at first was because the proprietary charge point on the Legend. I'm out on the road an lot and it's a gigantic pain not being able to use a 'normal' USB of some description. This unit is expensive for what it is, but it does mean you can charge from a cigarette lighter (or mains) with a standard USB cable. For that .. very useful. What would be more useful is getting rid of the proprietary charging point in the first place. The case doubles as a charger (same as the Edge's). The advantage of the Legend is that you don't have to remove any parts to get it into the case for charging. With the Edge, you have to take the over ear loop off.Superb bit of kit. It provides enough juice to power the headset for perhaps a week and a half of moderate use. Not sure what this equates to in complete charge cycles as I pop the headset into the case overnight but would estimate perhaps 4+ full charges so maybe 24 hours worth. The two indicator lights show charge left in the pack and charge on the headset (1 blink low - 3 blinks high). I would have rated this as 5 stars except for the fact that if Plantronics had stayed with the standard micro USB charging port used on previous headsets, rather than the proprietary version on the Legend, this case wouldn't really be needed!
